I recently rooted my S3 (finally!), but want to update to the newest TWRP recovery. Right now I have ClockworkMod but I hear that TWRP is better for this phone.
Do I flash it with odin, is there something I can download directly, or is there some other way?

Congrats on rooting your GS3. Now the fun starts...
Personally, I like TWRP much more than CWM, and here's the easiest way I know to get it on your device.
Download Goo Manager from the Play store. Open the app and hit Menu and hit Install Openscript Recovery. Follow the prompts, it'll download and install it for you, and the next time you need to go to recovery, it'll be TWRP.
Using Goo Manager is by far the simplest method, but if you want to push it via adb or flash a .tar, go here and find the version for your specific device.
