Enable One-Tap App Installation for APKs on Android

Installing software on a smartphone.

I'm always looking for the best apps and services for my Android, and that means sticking strictly to the Google Play Store is a no-go. If you're like me and tend to install a lot of APKs (application files), you're probably tired of seeing the "Install" confirmation that always pops up.

Hamzah Malik also saw this as an unnecessary step, and developed a mod called AutoInstaller to combat it. This module essentially removes the "Install" page when installing apps, so that you can get those APKs up and running even quicker—in just one tap.

In order to get this function on your Android device, you will need to make sure you are rooted with the Xposed Framework installed, as well as have installation from "Unknown sources" enabled. If you're already an APK installing pro, chances are you're already set.

Install AutoInstall

Head into the Xposed Installer app on your Android device to search for and install AutoInstall. Alternatively, you can grab the APK for this app from the Xposed Repository online. You may have to go through the "Install" screen one last time, but it'll be worth it.

After installation, make sure to activate the module and reboot your device.

Enable AutoInstall

Once your device is back up, open AutoInstall and enable it. And that's all there is to it. You may be wondering why the app has any UI at all instead of just being auto-enabled, but having the ability to toggle the mod on/off could come in handy one day.

If you're feeling unsure an app or suspect that the file you're downloading could potentially be malware, disable AutoInstall so it doesn't automatically install the APK before you have a chance to check out its permissions.

Enjoy Quicker APK Installs!

From now on, when you download an app in APK format, simply tap on its notification or select it from your Download folder. With one tap, the application will begin installation.

Some may see this as petty, but if you frequently download APKs, then you'll definitely appreciate this mod and the swift installations it can offer.
