Samsung Bespoke AI Washer IFA 2026: What's Confirmed So Far

Samsung showed off two separate Bespoke AI Washer models at IFA 2026 in Berlin this week: a 10kg machine carrying Samsung's A-70% efficiency claim and a 13kg washer designed to fit within a standard 600mm European depth. These are two distinct products built for different priorities, not two trims of the same machine.

For UK buyers, only the 13kg model is currently headed to the country. Samsung says the 10kg A-70% washer is not currently planned for the UK. Neither model has a confirmed price or retail date, and both are still development-stage products whose specifications can change before commercial release.

The two washers are on display at Samsung's IFA Creator Hub at Humboldt Carré in Berlin through September 6, according to the Samsung Global Newsroom. Samsung's UK announcement specifically identifies the 13kg model as coming to the UK, although commercial availability is still to be determined.

Samsung says the 10kg model is designed to use up to 70% less energy than the minimum required for a European Class A rating, up from the previous 9kg A-65% model. Samsung attributes the improvement to gains in motor efficiency, thermal management, and wash-cycle design.

The 13kg model instead uses Samsung's SpaceMax technology to fit that capacity into a standard 600mm depth intended for common European kitchens, utility rooms, and furniture configurations. Samsung hasn't published an energy-efficiency rating for that model yet.

Both machines share a large touchscreen integrated visually with the detergent compartment for cycle controls, connected features, and SmartThings access. Both also include Auto Open Door, which gradually opens the washer door after a cycle to help release residual moisture.

The confirmed differences are:

• 10kg A-70% washer: 10kg capacity, Samsung's A-70% efficiency claim, motor and thermal-management improvements, redesigned wash cycles, touchscreen, and Auto Open Door. It is not currently planned for the UK.

• 13kg standard-depth washer: 13kg capacity within a 600mm-depth design, SpaceMax technology, touchscreen, Auto Open Door, and confirmed plans for a UK launch. Price, model number, full installation dimensions, energy rating, and release date haven't been announced.

Samsung hasn't specifically named AI Wash+ or AI Energy Mode as features of either IFA model.

The Samsung 13kg Bespoke AI Washer and what SpaceMax actually changes

SpaceMax technology increases the washer's internal drum volume without increasing its external dimensions, allowing Samsung to fit 13kg of capacity into a standard European 600mm-depth design.

That doesn't mean the washer will match every dimension of a smaller machine already installed in a kitchen or utility room. Samsung hasn't published the full width, height, rear-clearance, hose-space, or door-clearance specifications for the UK model yet.

Samsung positions the design for larger loads, bedding, and bulkier items while keeping the washer suitable for common European kitchen, utility-room, and fitted-furniture layouts. Actual installation will still depend on the final dimensions and the available space.

Samsung's broader 2026 Bespoke AI Washer lineup, announced in July, spans 10.5kg to 13kg depending on the market. That range covers a wider product family rather than guaranteeing that every regional 13kg model has identical specifications.

The A-70% claim, and why it's not the same as AI Energy Mode

A-70% refers to energy use relative to the minimum threshold for a European Class A rating. It does not mean the washer uses 70% less electricity than an average washing machine or 70% less than the machine already in someone's home.

Samsung says internal testing of the 10kg washer produced an Energy Efficiency Index of 15.5 and consumption of 15.3 kWh per 100 cycles. That works out to about 70.2% greater efficiency than the Class A threshold for a 10kg washer under the relevant EU test standard.

Those are preliminary company test results. Samsung says final testing still has to be completed before EPREL registration, and results can vary with usage conditions.

The A-70% model follows Samsung's A-55% washer from IFA 2024 and the A-65% model shown at IFA 2025.

AI Energy Mode is different. Samsung says the SmartThings feature can cut energy consumption by up to 70% on compatible cycles by using AI Ecobubble technology to wash at lower temperatures and extending the cycle when needed.

Samsung hasn't specifically confirmed AI Energy Mode for either of the two new IFA washers, so its 70% savings claim shouldn't be combined with the A-70% efficiency figure or treated as an additional saving on top of it.

The wider July washer lineup also includes AI Wash+, which can identify Cotton, Delicates, Towels, Denim, and Outdoor fabrics in qualifying loads and adjust water, detergent, and washing time. SmartThings can provide post-cycle energy and water reports and estimated electricity costs on compatible models.

Those features aren't specifically listed for the new A-70% or 13kg IFA models, so their inclusion will depend on the final specifications.

Before you buy: what to check once UK listings appear

The 13kg washer is the model UK buyers need to watch. Once its retail listing and energy label appear, check:

• Model number and exact capacity. Confirm that the retail machine matches the 13kg standard-depth washer shown at IFA.

• Energy class and kWh per 100 cycles. Samsung hasn't published an efficiency rating for the 13kg model yet.

• Water use per cycle and Eco 40-60 programme duration. Neither figure appears in the IFA announcement.

• Full external dimensions and door clearance. The 600mm figure describes the standard design depth, but buyers still need the complete installation dimensions.

• SmartThings feature support. Confirm whether the UK model includes AI Wash+, AI Energy Mode, and app-based consumption reporting rather than assuming features from Samsung's wider lineup carry over.

The 10kg A-70% washer is a separate proposition for other markets. Its preliminary 15.3 kWh-per-100-cycle result gives buyers more information than the A-70% badge alone, but final certification and local retail specifications still matter.

UK buyers interested in maximum capacity should wait for Samsung to publish the 13kg model number, final energy label, installation drawing, price, and release date. Until then, its 13kg capacity and 600mm-depth design are confirmed targets, but the full buying picture isn't available yet.
