Two days before Samsung's scheduled July 22 Unpacked event, prominent leaker Evan Blass published what appears to be official promotional material for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, including an exploded internal diagram with a visible "Powered by Snapdragon Wear Elite" badge. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 leak covers the watch's full spec sheet: an 800mAh battery, a 5,000-nit display, a 12% thinner titanium chassis, and Qualcomm's 3nm Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, according to Notebookcheck and SamMobile, both reporting today. Samsung has not acknowledged the leak.
Some context on why that spec list matters. The original Galaxy Watch Ultra launched in 2024 to genuine enthusiasm. The 2025 follow-up was functionally identical, carrying the same 590mAh battery and the same Exynos W1000 chip, and PhoneArena noted today that the 2025 model struggled to find a strong argument in favor of its release. The 2026 model, referred to across leaks as the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, is where Samsung appears to have actually changed things.
The catch is price. A rumored €50 increase in Europe puts the Ultra 2 LTE at €749, and it adds pressure to a spec sheet that still has gaps.

The leaked renders show two color options: an olive-green band on a titanium case, and an all-black version with an orange ring around the rotating crown, keeping the familiar dual-button layout intact. For a watch that has always leaned into bulk as a rugged identity marker, slimming the profile without switching to aluminum is a meaningful shift toward daily wearability.
The display spec may be the most eye-catching number in the leak. Peak brightness is tipped to reach 5,000 nits, up from 3,000 nits on the current model, a 67% increase on paper, per Android Authority from three weeks ago. That gap shows up most in direct sunlight, where lower-brightness panels wash out and become unreadable. What the leaks don't clarify is whether the display sustains that peak or pulses briefly at maximum output, a distinction that matters considerably for outdoor use.
Durability steps up as well. The Ultra 2 reportedly carries an IP69K rating, which covers resistance to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets at close range, beyond the IP68 standard on current Ultra models, Android Authority reported three weeks ago. A separate spec leak from last week also cites water resistance to 100 meters, compared with 5 ATM for the standard Watch 9 (Android Authority). Those two specs measure different things, pressure jets versus submersion depth, so they're complementary rather than contradictory. Together, they describe a watch aimed at swimmers, trail runners, and anyone who'd prefer not to think twice before jumping in.
The leaks also indicate the Ultra 2 will feature a 480 x 480-pixel display, up to 64GB of internal storage, and connectivity that includes Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and dual-band Wi-Fi, according to Android Authority from last week.

The Ultra 2 is reported to carry an 800mAh cell, up from 590mAh in both the 2024 and 2025 Ultra, a 36% increase and the first battery bump the line has seen since launch, Notebookcheck reported today. Samsung rated the 590mAh model at up to 60 hours with always-on display enabled, according to Android Authority. Users complained about poor battery life and slow charging on the original Ultra, PhoneArena noted today. The bigger cell addresses endurance directly. Charging speed data hasn't surfaced yet, so that second complaint remains an open question.
Worth keeping in mind: a larger battery, a brighter display, and a more powerful chip are three forces pulling in different directions on endurance. Whether Samsung has managed those tradeoffs well won't be clear until real-world testing.
The chip shift is the larger story in strategic terms. Samsung's entire 2026 watch lineup is reportedly abandoning the Exynos W1000 in favor of Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear Elite, the first time Samsung has moved its whole wearables portfolio to third-party silicon, Notebookcheck reported today. Built on TSMC's 3nm process, the Wear Elite is Qualcomm's first wearable chip with a dedicated NPU, enabling on-device features like smart replies and fitness coaching without a paired phone. Qualcomm announced Samsung as a launch partner earlier this year, SamMobile reported ten days ago.
The raw performance numbers are notable. Geekbench scores show the Snapdragon Wear Elite posting 573 points in single-core, 54% higher than the Exynos W1000's 371, and 1,069 points in multi-core, 56% higher than the W1000's 683, per SamMobile. The chip's five-core CPU, codenamed Vienna, features one Cortex-A78C core clocked at 2.11GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 1.96GHz, alongside an Adreno 622 GPU. Benchmark margins and perceptible daily performance are not the same thing, but a gap that size is hard to dismiss. One notable detail from the Geekbench listing: the chip was tested in a device running Android 16 with 4GB of RAM, suggesting the Ultra 2 may ship with more memory than the 2GB cited in earlier spec leaks.
Today's promotional renders are also the first time the Snapdragon Wear Elite branding has appeared in marketing material rather than a leaked spec sheet, Notebookcheck observed. That's a different kind of signal than a spec document.
Who this leak matters to, and what the price changes
For buyers who skipped the 2025 model, the leaked changes are more substantial on paper than anything that refresh offered over the original. The battery increase addresses a recurring complaint about the line, and the chip switch is a platform change rather than an incremental spec revision. If the leaked specs hold, the Ultra 2 would differ more sharply from the 2025 model than last year's revision did from the original 2024 watch.
For first-time buyers, the relevant number is €749, the rumored LTE price in Europe, roughly €50 more than its predecessor, per PhoneArena today and Android Authority last week. That converts to approximately $857. At that price, being substantially better than a poorly received predecessor is a necessary condition, not sufficient justification on its own.
The leaks are also notably thin on health sensors, new fitness tracking capabilities, and software features, which are often the deciding factors for smartwatch buyers. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is set to launch alongside the standard Galaxy Watch 9 with Wear OS 7 based on One UI 9 Watch at Unpacked on July 22, per Android Authority.
The full announcement is 48 hours away. What the leak still doesn't answer is whether Samsung has improved charging speeds, added new health hardware, or built a software case strong enough to justify the price increase. Those details, more than the render-friendly specs, will determine whether the Ultra 2 is merely different from 2025 or actually worth the premium.
