With over a billion videos uploaded to YouTube, passing your time browsing through the immense library can be an emotional roller coaster ride. One second you're bawling your eyes out over this devastatingly sad clip of Oden the dog's last minutes with his owner, and the next you're laughing hysterically at Spider-Man falling on his face.
However, sometimes the playback is not as smooth as you'd like, especially if you have a weak signal on your Samsung Galaxy Note 2. There have been plenty of times when I've tried to show one of my favorite videos to a friend and it just wouldn't upload because of service issues.
Instead of having to deal with shitty service, why not just make all your favorite YouTube videos easily accessible on your Note 2 beforehand?
How to Download YouTube Videos for Offline Viewing
Danny pointed out a couple weeks ago over at Nexus 7 softModder an app called YouTube Downloader by Android developer Dentex, which lets you download high-quality YouTube videos directly to your device's internal storage.
Step 1: Enable Unknown Sources
Go to Settings -> Security and make sure Unknown sources is checked. This allows you to install third-party apps outside of Google Play.
Step 2: Get YouTube
Make sure you have the official YouTube app already on your Note 2 before getting YouTube Downloader.
Step 3: Download YouTube Downloader
Just click here to get the newest version of YouTube Download on your device (v2.2).
Step 4: Download a Video
Head over to the video you want to download and tap on the Share icon located on the top right
From the Share Video Via menu, select YouTube Downloader
Choose what type of quality you want the video to be downloaded in, then tap Download here.
Step 5: Find Your Video
The download will begin and you'll be able to find your videos in a Downloads folder in your Gallery
From there, you'll be able to access all of your favorite videos without having to be connected to the internet. This is especially handy when you want to hear music that you can only find on YouTube and don't want to head over to the app and stream it every time.
You probably won't want to download too many videos as they can take up a large amount of space. Just keep a few favorites—that way you'll always be able to show Spider-Man falling to anyone and everyone.
Keep Your Connection Secure Without a Monthly Bill. Get a lifetime subscription to VPN Unlimited for all your devices with a one-time purchase from the new Gadget Hacks Shop, and watch Hulu or Netflix without regional restrictions, increase security when browsing on public networks, and more.
