Suggest Movie for Android: A Simple Way to Search for Good Flicks

A Simple Way to Search for Good Flicks

"Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit" was one of my favorite lines from the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but it's also exactly what you have to wade through to find a good movie to watch.

With so many different aspects that make up a great movie, and a seemingly endless amount of films available online, in stores, and at the theater, it's hard to rely on just word-of-mouth or making an educated guess to actually skip all the bad films.

However, there's one thing I find myself using lately to find good flicks to watch, and that's Suggest Movie, available for free on the Google Play Store. You can filter searches by genre, year, and IMDb rating, right on your Android device.

Suggest Movie is dead simple to use. There aren't even any settings to configure, with only two sections you need to worry about. In the first section, you set filters for your search. On the next screen, you get results for your filtered search.

The filters come in handy when you want something more than just a genre. If you're looking for a little '80s or '90s throwback, the search-by-year option is clutch. If you're trying to figure out which flick to see at a theater, choose the current year for both year fields.

Along with a little plot synopsis, there is IMDb and Rotten Tomato ratings, as well as Google results, which will help you figure out if it's available to rent (stream) online. If you scroll down the synopsis page, you can watch a trailer of the movie or tap "Suggest Another" to view other options.

You can also share your findings with friends via text, Hangouts, or other messaging options, as well as save it as memo or note to remember later. The only thing I wish this app had was Netflix results, so I know which ones I can and can't stream.

So, the next time you're looking for a new movie to buy, stream, download, or check out in a theater, Suggest Movie will help to weed out the crap and give you exactly what you're looking for. Let us know what you think in the comments below, and as always, hit us up on Facebook and Twitter.
