Galaxy S26 Gets 3 Major Upgrades Samsung Just Confirmed

"Galaxy S26 Gets 3 Major Upgrades Samsung Just Confirmed" cover image

Samsung's latest earnings call just dropped some major hints about what's coming with the Galaxy S26 series, and the waiting game just got a lot more interesting. During their Q3 2025 financial discussion, Samsung officially confirmed that the upcoming lineup will pack significant upgrades across three key areas. Meanwhile, the rumor mill is split on whether we'll actually see a Galaxy S26 Edge or if Samsung is playing a different game entirely. Here's where things stand.

Context helps. The Galaxy S25 Edge came in at just 5.8mm thick, according to Tom's Guide. If "More Slim" is a clue, Samsung could be pushing even thinner hardware.

There is a catch. Android Central reports development on "More Slim" started later than the original S26 Edge timeline. Translation, the first design may not have been thin enough to stand out, so Samsung pivoted, which could delay launch.

Engineering a thinner phone means tradeoffs. Battery capacity shrinks, camera modules fight for space, heat gets harder to move. The S25 Edge already cut to two cameras and still cost $1,099, while the base S25 sat at $799. Cool to hold, sure, but do buyers really want form over function at that price? I am not convinced.

What this means for the launch timeline

The ripple effects are showing up in the schedule. TechRadar reports that multiple sources now expect a delay, moving the Galaxy S26 announcement from January to March 2026. Roughly two months, a noticeable slip for Samsung's usual calendar.

The holdup seems tied to Edge indecision and chipset juggling. According to TechRadar, Samsung may bring back the Galaxy S26 Plus instead of Edge, a swap that reshuffles production and marketing.

Operationally, it adds up. Edge versus Plus means different tooling, parts orders, and training for factories. A dual chipset plan doubles testing matrices and software optimization, then splits regional distribution. Thermal design, camera tuning, even battery suppliers feel those choices.

What is clear is that Samsung is taking these upgrades seriously enough to risk a delay. Better product or more confusion, we will see. Given how stale some hardware has felt, a little patience might pay off if the new sensors and custom silicon deliver.

The bottom line is this: Samsung appears to be planning their most significant Galaxy S series update in years, and they are wrestling with lineup and timing to match. The next few months should tell us whether all this behind the scenes drama turns into phones that are actually worth the wait.
