How To: Turn Your Galaxy Note 2 into a Secretive Photo-Capturing Motion Detector

Turn Your Galaxy Note 2 into a Secretive Photo-Capturing Motion Detector

I know I can't be the only person whose socks go missing in a shroud of mystery, but I'm determined to catch the sock-thieving gnomes in the act.

While I have my suspicions, I can't quite prove it. Sure, I could drink a load of Red Bulls and never sleep, guarding my socks—but that's just crazy right? Luckily, I've found a way to set up my phone to catch the culprits.

I Give You: The Motion Detector

If you have a Galaxy Note 2 and want to see who's stealing your socks (or anything else for that matter), check out Motion Detector for Android. The new application, from Android developer Jastrzab, turns your Galaxy Note 2 into a fully functional (and aptly named) motion detector.

In a nutshell, it helps you capture images with your front and rear camera, whenever motion is detected.

When starting the application, you can either slide it on to start detecting right away, or you can put a widget on your home screen, which lets you toggle it on and off by simply by tapping the icon.

Once on, it'll run silently in the background, automatically saving pictures whenever enough movement happens from frame to frame. It'll save all of the pictures it captures (in low-quality so as to preserve space) into its destination folder, which you can then go through.

Some of the settings that you can adjust include sensitivity, sound, and notifications and more.

Of course, this only works when you're home and don't need your phone on you. If you're really serious about catching those sock gnomes, you may need to purchase an expensive motion detector camera setup, or try one of the other DIY options on WonderHowTo.

That way you'll catch those bastards for sure.

I suggest you to give a look also at the new app SpyVisio, there are a lot of other functions added (e.g. web server, sms interception, GPS localization...)
